Charlotte Hornets – Adam Morrison (2006)

No one can really make any kind of substantiated argument about the 2006 NBA Draft that would have anyone thinking that it was a great class. In fact, the easy (and likely correct) argument is that it was the opposite of that. As such, there were plenty of teams that missed on their draft picks in the lottery and throughout the draft. However, none of those other teams used the No. 3 pick to draft Adam Morrison out of Gonzaga—that distinction belongs to the then Charlotte Bobcats.

Morrison’s production in college was admittedly absolutely absurd. With the Bulldogs of Gonzaga, he was the entirety of their offense, a fantastic playmaker, and much more. However, there were questions about many aspects of his game and how what he was asked to do at Gonzaga would allow his skills to translate to the NBA. Even if plenty of scouts thought that he could be good, the concerns were still there.

And now we know how it turned out for Morrison in Charlotte and in the NBA in general. All of the concerns about him as a prospect were warranted as they surfaced and never really went away. There are still some that will defend the pick and its fair that Morrison was among several other busts. However, that doesn’t make it any less unpopular among the majority of fans.
