An app called Spoiled was designed specifically to spoil Game of Thrones.
Spoilers are a very delicate thing that people always try to steer clear of, especially when it comes to their favorite show. They are especially delicate for Game of Thrones since major events occur almost every episode.
Last week’s episode, which saw Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton duke it out in the Battle of the Bastards, was the biggest episode of the season so far and saw some major shakeups occur. While the focus of the episode was on Winterfell, they also spent a good deal of time with Daenerys at Meereen, and lots of deaths occurred in both locations.
As such, people were hesitant to look at their phones or log on to social media until after they saw the episode, but even that wasn’t enough. An app called “Spoiled” is designed specifically to ruin Game of Thrones, and it was developed right before “Battle of the Bastards.” The app sends text messages and photos of big events just before they occur, causing plenty of friendships to get ruined.
It’s a wonder why anyone who watches Game of Thrones would get this app, especially since it costs $1 and people generally steer clear of paid apps, but it could be a handy tool for pranking someone. With the Season 6 finale coming up, downloading the Spoiled app could potentially result in someone never speaking to you again.
Game of Thrones isn’t the first show to get this treatment – there’s a whole community dedicated to The Walking Dead spoilers called “The Spoiling Dead”, which is probably why they ended their last season the way they did.
The app could start spoiling other shows, but for now, it’s just for Game of Thrones, so make sure you don’t download the app before the Season 6 finale, or talk to anybody who has downloaded it.
