Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons said the fateful words that Philadelphia fans know well after being drafted.

The Philadelphia 76ers finally got their chance to have the No. 1 overall pick on Thursday, and they went with the expected pick Ben Simmons. The 76ers fans went crazy, as they got their star finally and what they hope is the future of their franchise.

After Sam Hinkie departed Philadelphia, fans went nuts over what they felt was the Colangelos giving him a raw deal and many stood by the former general manager. After Simmons was drafted on Thursday, he was interviewed and said those words that Hinkie was made famous for, “trust the process.”

It lines up with the thinking in Philadelphia over recent years and while they might try to expedite the process, Simmons knows it’s going to take some time for the core to come together and put wins on the board.

If there’s any consolation, the work of Hinkie has left the team with some tremendous talent and it might just start paying off with wins sooner rather than later for a team that is in desperate need of them.
