Leicester City announced on Thursday that their star striker, Jamie Vardy, has signed a contract extension with the club.

Few players garnered international headlines like Jamie Vardy did this season. The English striker became a superstar after helping to lead Leicester City to an historic Premier League triumph. His fantastic season, also earned him a spot on Roy Hodgson’s England side that is currently in the Round of 16 at the European Championship.

He managed to score an astounding 24 goals while providing six assists for Leicester City last season, which is why he became one of the most sought after strikers this season. He had been linked with a plethora of clubs, but it seemed like he would be headed to the Emirates to ply his trade with Arsenal.

However, the Premier League Champions put an end to all the speculation and rumors surrounding the 29-year-old, by announcing that they have signed Vardy to a contract extension.

"“Leicester City have today (Thursday) agreed with the representatives of Jamie Vardy to extend the England international’s contract with the Premier League champions for a further four years,” read a statement on the club’s official website.“Both parties hope that this announcement will end recent speculation regarding Jamie’s future and confirm his long term commitment to Leicester City Football Club,” the statement continued."
