The Oklahoma City Thunder are reportedly shopping Serge Ibaka at the 2016 NBA Draft.
A top big man could be up for grabs at the 2016 NBA Draft as the Oklahoma City Thunder are reportedly looking to move Serge Ibaka. A potential draft day deal that could shake up the entire NBA landscape, especially the Western Conference, after OKC came within a game of the NBA Finals in this year’s playoffs, blowing a 3-1 lead to the Golden State Warriors.
According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, there are sources claiming that the Thunder are currently shopping Ibaka around at the draft. Looking to leverage the experienced Ibaka for a blockbuster deal in New York.
Ibaka’s scoring, rebounding and block averages have been dropping with each season so it makes sense that the Thunder are looking to move on from the versatile post player who can block shots at the rim while also being able to knock down the open three-pointer, a skill set that will at least intrigue some teams about the idea of adding Ibaka to their roster.
With stretch post players being a valuable asset in today’s NBA, expect Ibaka to create a market at the draft if the Thunder are indeed shopping around the veteran big man. Any team looking to make a push to contend could certainly use a player of Ibaka’s quality, but the question will be if the Thunder’s asking price is reasonable enough to make a draft day blockbuster possible.
Don’t expect a top lottery pick to be offered for Ibaka, but with the right suitor the Thunder could come out with a deal enticing enough to pull the trigger on cutting ties with the longtime OKC starter.
