One source who covers the Golden State Warriors says the team is willing to drop several important players if it means signing Kevin Durant.

It hasn’t even been a week since the Golden State Warriors dropped their chance at back-to-back titles by losing a seven-game series in the NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and already the press and fans are wondering what the team is going to do to get back to winning championships.

Of course, the main target in the Bay Area (and most other franchises) is Kevin Durant. It’s going to take a lot to get the most sought after free agent to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the Dubs seem ready to do whatever it takes.

If they do land Durant, it will likely mean that several of the players who were important pieces of the franchise the last two years will be shown the door. According to the Warriors’ blog for the San Jose Mercury News, the team is more than willing to drop two big names if it means Durant comes there:

From the emotional aspect, getting rid of your Finals MVP from last season might sting for a little while, but if it means getting Kevin Durant to join your team, you do whatever it takes. You make everyone not named Curry or Thompson know that their job is not safe and everyone is expendable when it comes to getting one of the five best players in the league on your team.
