Derrick Rose expressed his desire on Friday to play the rest of his career with the Knicks

The New York Knicks introduced their new point guard on Friday, as the team held a press conference for newly acquired Derrick Rose. Rose, who grew up in Chicago before being drafted first overall by his hometown Bulls, expressed thanks to the Bulls for trading him. He also spoke of his aspirations, which include retiring as a member of the Knicks.

Coming into the 2016-17 season, Rose will be in the final year of his five-year/$94 million dollar contract, so the Knicks are off the hook if the trade does not work out. The guard will make over $21 million dollars this season, so he will need to play at a high level if he going to earn another contract.

During the press conference, Rose made it very clear that he does not want the 2016-17 to be his only year playing home games at Madison Square Garden.

“I hope I will be able to play the rest of my career here.”

The Knicks are just hoping for a healthy Rose this season. The best case scenario is that Rose teams with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis to form a formidable “Big 3” in an Eastern Conference that is pretty weak after the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He could finish his career as a New York Knick, but the Knicks are just hoping it is not due to injury this season.
