One reason Kevin Durant should consider every NBA team
By Brad Rowland
The summer of 2016 in the NBA is going to be wild. The league’s salary cap is set to increase exponentially when the new “league year” begins in early July, and as a result, most of the NBA’s 30 teams will have enough space under the cap to offer at least one maximum contract to a pending free agent.
While there are more than a few top-flight players on the market, there is exactly one athlete available that would fall into the category of a transformational piece. That player is Kevin Durant.
Technically, LeBron James could become available by nature of a player option in his contract, but for a full year, the lion’s share of the focus for this particular off-season has been on Durant, and with good reason. He is, without question, one of the five best players in the NBA today, and given his age (27 years old), Durant is perhaps the best possible investment when it comes to top-flight money over the next handful of seasons.
With the mechanics in place for a wild and wacky summer of free agent courting, each and every team in the league should be placing a call to Kevin Durant on July 1, and we will discuss that possibility in this space. Today, we will break down one reason that Durant should at least consider signing with each and every entity, and while it may take some tongue-in-cheek theatrics to make that a reality, each franchise brings its own value to the table.
Now, let’s break it down in alphabetical order, beginning with the reason that Durant should consider joining the Atlanta Hawks.
