Los Angeles Clippers – The bookends

The NBA in 2016 is a weird animal in that conventional wisdom is standing on its head. For as long as basketball fans can remember, point guards and, especially, centers ruled the world when it came to building an NBA squad, and as such, the two positions were wildly valuable in the grand scheme. Now, though, the wing positions are becoming more emphasized as “positionless” basketball becomes a revolution, and the ability to make threes and defend multiple positions is in high demand.

However, it is still very nice to have strong bookends, and that is what the Clippers possess.

Doc Rivers and company trot out Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan at point guard and center, respectively, and those two stars help to anchor things for the Clippers. Of course, it helps to have Blake Griffin as well, but in order to bring Kevin Durant to this particular organization, Griffin would likely be on the way out.

Durant can play with anyone and that is part of what makes him so appealing. However, you would be hard pressed to find a better combination than Jordan (elite rebounder and rim protector) and Paul (elite distributor, shooter, defender and floor general) to surround Durant in the immediate time frame.

Oh, and being in Los Angeles would be nice, too.
