New Orleans Pelicans – Anthony Davis

We have discussed (and will continue to discuss) various stars that could be appealing for Kevin Durant as partners in crime. For the most part, though, we have masked that in various ways in an effort to make things more nuanced for Durant as he makes a very complex and wildly intriguing decision.

In the case of the New Orleans Pelicans, though, there is only one selling point and his name is Anthony Davis.

The Pelicans are a bit of a mess organizationally, but they have one of the best young players in the NBA under contract for the foreseeable future and that matters. Davis broke on to the season with an all-time season in 2014-2015 at the age of 21, and while he took something of a lateral step in 2015-2016, the ceiling remains immense.

Durant could assume his rightful role as the primary option in New Orleans, allowing Davis to turn into the all-court monster that every NBA dreams of, and the two would be devastating on both ends. Can you imagine the sheer length of Davis and Durant defensively? Or the shooting range and athleticism offensively?

The Pelicans would still have work to do with the roster even if Durant arrived, but that’s an impressive starting point.
