One reason Kevin Durant should consider every NBA team

Philadelphia 76ers – The cleanest of slates

Kevin Durant does not necessarily strike me as someone who is looking to control every aspect of his roster. Oklahoma City undoubtedly consults Durant (and Russell Westbrook) on some personnel-driven moves, even if in secret, but the All-Star forward has not been vocal about directing traffic when it comes to the players around him.

In Philadelphia, Kevin Durant could be looking at the cleanest possible slate. Is that appealing? Well, maybe.

The Sixers have been horrific for multiple seasons, but this is a historically relevant franchise that has real assets. Philadelphia has a war chest of future picks to add to Ben Simmons and a talented frontcourt, and with Durant on board, the future would be quite a bit brighter immediately.

More than that, Philadelphia has immense flexibility in that their salary cap sheet is very clean, and Durant might be able to entice another top-flight player to join him in the City of Brotherly Love. The Sixers would not be a conventional choice (in any way) for one of the best players in the NBA to sign a free agent contract in 2016, but their turnaround would be a lot of fun to watch.
