Boston Celtics – Taking the long-term approach

The Celtics are already good at basketball, and the future is obscenely bright in Boston. By nature of the coup that involved grabbing all kinds of NBA Draft assets from the Brooklyn Nets, the Celtics are set up for the long-term, including the fact that Danny Ainge and his crew hold the number three overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Would Kevin Durant make Boston a title contender in 2017? Probably not, at least on his own. The Celtics would certainly jump into the conversation as the best team to challenge LeBron and company in Cleveland, but this would be a long-term play for Durant. Boston has a proven GM in Ainge, a top-flight coach in Brad Stevens and a myriad of young role players that can grow alongside Durant, the rookie that will be coming this season and the various youngsters that will be flooding the roster in the near future.

Throw in the fact that Boston has an impressive heritage (Larry Bird, Bill Russell and Red Auerbach say hello) on the level of just about any franchise in the NBA and Kevin Durant should absolutely consider wearing green and white in the future.
