Dallas Mavericks – The best owner in the NBA

Dirk Nowitzki has been the face of the Dallas Mavericks for nearly two decades, and he is one of the best power forwards of all-time. With that, it would be easy to argue that Durant should join the Mavs based on a partnership with Nowitzki, but his age (38) prevents that from being the best reason. What Dallas does have, though, is the best owner in the NBA.

Mark Cuban is a polarizing figure in many ways, from his status as a television personality to his sometimes brash persona. What isn’t up for debate is that he has done a phenomenal job in transforming the Mavericks from an also-ran to a prime NBA franchise. He was the first owner in the league to invest in a high-end locker room set-up for his players and Cuban has always been at the forefront of doing everything possible to make players comfortable and secure in Dallas.

Kevin Durant would be treated in a similar manner in most places given his status, but Cuban has real appeal to the best of the best in the NBA. Throw in the fact that Dallas is a huge and emerging market (not far from Oklahoma City, I might add) and the team has cap space and flexibility to play with and you have something very interesting.
