The Brooklyn Nets missed out on the big Derrick Rose trade when the former Chicago Bulls point guard was dealt to the New York Knicks.

Left without an option at point guard, the Nets drafted Seton Hall guard Isaiah Whitehead and signed Indiana point guard Yogi Ferrell. Only having these two options for a new point guard was apparently not completely ideal for the Nets however, as reports have them linked to Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo.

Rondo has only spent one season with the Kings, and before that only one season with the Dallas Mavericks. While Rondo’s time in Dallas was filled with animosity and clashes with coach Rick Carlisle, ending with a rather profane take from owner Mark Cuban, Rondo is now arguably playing the best basketball of his career.

Rondo shot 58% from the free throw line in the 2015-2016 season, lower than his career average of 61%. He also hit on 37 percent of his three point shots, taking around 80 more three-point shots than he has in any other season he’s played. He’s more than just a shooter though, he’s been on the NBA’s All-Defensive teams four times in his career, twice on the first team and twice on the second team.

Adding Rondo to any organization is a moderately sized risk due to his flamboyant personality. Even before his duels with the Mavericks, he was at odds with former Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers, with one interaction almost coming to blows. For the Nets, who desperately need a point guard, flamboyant Rondo might be work the risk.
