It has been a whirlwind week for LeBron James, who recently gave the city of Cleveland their first championship since 1964. On Saturday, the city of Akron said they will name a street after him.

LeBron James is the first son of the city of Akron. A kid who grew up on welfare within the city limits, James went on to become one of the greatest basketball players in the history of the National Basketball Association.

Last week, James led his Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA championship, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the returning champion Golden State Warriors. In the process, LeBron was named NBA Finals MVP, and his hometown of Akron is now naming one of their streets King James Way in his honor.

Akron mayor Dan Horrigan unveiled the sign the day after the Cavaliers championship parade. Ohio.com reported that Horrigan said, “Every king has a kingdom and every kingdom must have roads.”

On Wednesday, James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that he plans to stay in Cleveland for the 2016-17 season, while leaving $3 million dollars on the table.

“I love it here in Cleveland,” James said. “I have no intentions of leaving. There are some technicalities to take care of I’ll leave up to my agent. That’s right from the horse’s mouth.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted James with the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He played the first seven years of his careers with the Cavs before spending four with the Miami Heat. He made his return to Cleveland prior to the 2014-15 season and delivered the championship this past year.

The Cavaliers are the clear favorite to repeat in the Eastern Conference next season, as the team will be looking to make it two in a row.
