FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 27
High Salary SP
Jake Arrieta-Chicago Cubs (11,900): The Cubs’ Ace hasn’t been quite as dominant in his last few outings, but he’s still an impressive 11-2 on the season with a WHIP under 1.00. He’ll take the mount tonight looking to return to his dominant form even though the Cubs are on the road in Cincinnati.
Arrieta has had no trouble on the road this year going 7-0 with a 1.84 ERA although his strikeout rate is much higher at home for some reason. He’ll be making his second start of the season against the Reds who he pitched a no-hitter against earlier this year while allowing just four walks and striking out six. Over the past three years before his no-hitter, Arrieta was 3-2 against the Reds, but he sports an unseemly 7.20 ERA at Great American where he’ll take the mound tonight. The ballpark record is definitely a red flag, but he’s a dominant fantasy force when he’s on his game, and he could definitely end up worth his salary of almost 12K tonight.∗∗
Jeff Samardzija-San Francisco Giants (9,400): Samardzija gets a nice matchup at home tonight as he and the Giants host the offensively challenged A’s. Samardzija got knocked around in his last start at Pittsburgh, but he twirled a gem the game before that in Tampa allowing just one run on four hits in his first compete game of the season. He has been good at home going 3-1 with a 3.06 ERA in five start while striking out 31 in 32.1 innings. He doesn’t have a great history against the A’s, but at AT&T Park tonight he’s a nice play as he takes on Daniel Menhaden who is 0-3 in his three starts this year.∗∗∗
Trevor Bauer-Cleveland Indians (8,900): Bauer will be my favorite pitcher for the money tonight if the weather clears up a bit in Atlanta. As long as rain isn’t going to slow him down, I think he’ll be a great option against the light-hitting Braves.
Bauer there a complete-game in his last outing against the Rays given up just one run on three hits and striking out ten. That outing didn’t come out of nowhere, though, since he has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last four starts with nine punch outs or more in three of those four outings. He has found his command and suddenly looks locked in. His matchup against the Braves should be an ideal game for him to keep his roll going as long as the weather cooperates. ∗∗∗∗
