A.C. Milan name Vincenzo Montella new manager
A.C. Milan are starting their rebuilding phase with a new manager, Vincenzo Montella.
The former Italian giants have undergone a pretty dissapointing spell in recent years. The seven time Champions League winners have failed to even reach a Europa League spot in the last three seasons, and have gone through managers like pencils.
They have had five managers in the span of three years and have had players underperform as well. The only bright spot for A.C. Milan this past season was the play of 17-year-old keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma who outplayed almost every player on the team last season and took over the number one job over veteran Diego Lopez.
Milan fired their former manager Sinisa Mihajlovic after he took control last summer and brought in youth coach and former player Christian Brocchi as his replacement on April 12th. Even though reports linked Brocchi to stay, the club has officialy brought in former Fiorentina and Sampdoria manager Vincenzo Montella.
Montella was a coach in demand in 2015. He was let go by Fiorentina and was looking for a new challenge. Milan had rumblings of taking him last summer, but went with Mihajlovic instead. His opportunity came on November 10th, 2015 as he took control of Mihajlovic’s former team, Sampdoria. However, the club was not in good shape and he failed to better their seventh place finish the year before, finishing the season in 15th.
Still Montella is a good option for Milan. When he took control of Fiorentina in 2012, he rebuilt a team that really needed help. He guided them to a Coppa Italia Final in 2014 and then a Europa League semi-final that same year.
Montella can do the same to Milan this summer. He must rebuild this once historic team and bring them back to European glory. He could even have the backing of a new ownership from China if club president and former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi sells the team.

Montella is good capture for A.C. Milan, and shows that they seem to be getting serious about finally rebuilding this team from scratch and bringing in some very talented players.
