2016 NBA free agency: 5 worst fits for DeMar DeRozan
By John Buhler
Toronto Raptors All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is set to hit free agency on July 1. Here are five teams he should avoid signing with.
DeMar DeRozan is one of the bigger names to hit free agency in 2016. Over the last few seasons, he’s become an All-Star and an Olympian while starring for the Toronto Raptors.
DeRozan and fellow All-Star and Team USA teammate Kyle Lowry have combined to give the Raptors one of the best starting backcourts in the NBA. Thanks in large part to DeRozan and Lowry, Toronto has reached new heights as a basketball franchise, making its first ever trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016.
Should DeRozan return to Toronto, as it seems he wants to, the Raptors will again be a major factor in the Eastern Conference Playoffs, and probably the favorite to win the Atlantic Division four the fourth season in a row.
However, with the shooting guard market looking particularly thin entering 2016 NBA free agency, DeRozan seems to be the best player available at the position entering this offseason. While he will command a maximum contract from whichever team he signs with, here are five to avoid if he chooses to leave the Raptors.
Next: 5. Washington Wizards.
