DraftKings Early MLB picks for June 29

Seven of the 15 games are in the early tournament, so that gives us a pretty even split on the day. The Coors Field stack will be this afternoon, so let’s take a look at some stats to find some bargains and exploit that!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Daniel Norris has never faced the Marlins, but he was solid in his first start of the season against Seattle on Thursday. You can expect something similar to the three run in five innings with five strikeouts that he posted against the Mariners.

Tyler Anderson has a sparkling 2.55 ERA through three starts, but he has only gone more than six innings once. He has posted 20 strikeouts in 17.2 innings, but today he gets the Blue Jays in Coors Field. Anderson has a lot of promise, but this is a big risk.

Aaron Sanchez has never faced the Rockies. He seems to be emerging as the ace of the staff, going 7-1 with a 3.33 ERA. However, this is a young pitcher at Coors Field. I wouldn’t blame you if you rolled the dice with him, but there is still a lot of risk involved.

Cody Reed has given up nine runs in 12 innings to the Astros and Padres. What do you think the Cubs will do to him???

Best Bet:

Archie Bradley ($8,500): Bradley pitched well against the Phillies ten days ago, holding them scoreless in six innings with three hits, two walks, and five strikeouts. He racked up 24.5 DraftKings points, which is solid value if he can do it again. The change of park to Chase Field should only help him.

Honorable Mention:

Dallas Keuchel ($6,800): You can say this for DraftKings: they don’t care about names. Keuchel has an ERA over five on the season, hence the cheaper price. His past history against the Angels gives hope for a turnaround. The Angels are only hitting .219 against Keuchel in 178 at bats with four homers, 12 RBI, and 45 strikeouts. There is potential for a good start here.

Dark Horse:

Zach Eflin ($4,000): Eflin was solid against Arizona on June 19th, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three. That earned him 11.8 DraftKings points, which is decent value for the price. He was very good in his last outing against the Giants, lasting six full innings while giving up one unearned run to earn his first quality start. The bad news? He has just six strikeouts in three major league starts.

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

Matt Moore has pitched better lately, but he has never pitched well against the Red Sox. Mookie Betts ($4,800) is 4-6 with a double and a solo homer. Xander Bogaerts ($4,600) is 4-7 with a walk, two doubles, and two RBI. David Ortiz ($4,300), despite the lefty-lefty matchup, is 8-20 with two walks, two doubles, three homers, and eight RBI. Dustin Pedroia ($3,600) is only 4-17(.235), but he has a walk, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI against Moore. Travis Shaw ($3,100) is 5-7 with a walk, a double, a homer, and three RBI against Moore.

Matt Kemp ($4,300) is 9-25(.360) with three walks, three doubles, two homers, and seven RBI off of Yovani Gallardo from his days in the National League. Yangervis Solarte ($3,500) is 3-11 with two walks, a homer, and three RBI. Brett Wallace ($2,900) could be worth it if he plays. Wallace is 9-21(.429) with a solo homer off of Gallardo. On the bright side for Gallardo, he doesn’t have to face Jon Jay, who has taken him deep twice.

You may want to stack some Astros against the struggling Jered Weaver. Jose Altuve ($4,900) is 10-30 with a walk, two doubles, and two RBI off Weaver. Jason Castro ($3,400) is 6-23(.261) with a double, three homers, and six RBI against Weaver. Carlos Correa ($4,800) is 3-8 with a walk, a homer, and three driven in. Evan Gattis ($3,900) is 3-12 with a double, a homer, and two driven in. George Springer ($4,800) is 7-15 with a double, a homer and two driven in as well. Carlos Gomez ($3,500) is 3-12 with two walks, a double, a homer, and two RBI off Weaver. Make sure you stay away from Colby Rasmus though. Rasmus is just 1-17 against Weaver in his career.

Mike Trout ($4,800) is 11-34(.324) with four walks and two solo homers off of Dallas Keuchel. Yunel Escobar ($3,100) is 2-8 with four walks and a pair of RBI against Keuchel so far. Albert Pujols ($3,700) is only 6-28(.214) against Keuchel, but he has a double, two homers, and four RBI.

The Rays don’t have a great average against David Price (.237 in 118 at bats), but they have six homers and 23 RBI. That is a lot off of an ace. Curt Casali ($2,100) is 5-8 with three homers and five RBI against Price. The good news is that two of those homers and five of the RBI are on the DL (Steve Pearce and Kevin Kiermaier).

Mark Trumbo ($4,400) is 3-4 with a walk, two homers, and six RBI already against Christian Friedrich. You may want to play him this afternoon….

Joey Votto ($4,400) is 3-5 with two solo home runs and three walks against Kyle Hendricks.

Justin Upton ($4,100) is 6-16(.375) with two walks, a triple, a homer, and two RBI against Tom Koehler. Cameron Maybin ($3,900) is 3-8 with two doubles and two RBI.
