Looking at when the 2016-17 NBA schedule for next season will get released
The 2016-17 NBA season is technically just getting started—but only technically. With the beginning of the new NBA free agency period comes the new year for the league and so on. However, fans would almost unanimously agree that the season doesn’t begin until the players are on the court for games after the conclusion of the preseason. Considering that the 2016-17 NBA schedule hasn’t even been released yet, we’re still a ways from that happening.
However, there are so many things to look forward to in the upcoming season and potentially matchups to keep an eye on throughout the forthcoming NBA schedule. There’s obviously the NBA Finals rematch between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers to watch out for, but there’s much more than that as well.
If Kevin Durant were to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency, the matchup between OKC and his new team would be must-watch TV. Sticking with the Thunder, the matchup between them and the Warriors is going to be huge as well. Another potentially intriguing matchup resulting from free agency could be Dwight Howard on a new team playing against the Houston Rockets.
It’s safe to say that there could be some gems on the 2016-17 NBA schedule. The question, though, is when the NBA schedule will be released.
Though there isn’t a set date just yet for when all 30 teams’ schedules will hit the internet, we do know that it will be some time in August 2016. Considering that’s not far down the road, everyone should buckle up and get ready to feast their eyes on what could be a fascinating NBA schedule.
