Bovada’s updated Heisman odds sees a new favorite emerge with Leonard Fournette now the betting favorite.

Today, Bovada released their updated Heisman odds.

In the updated version, running back Leonard Fournette of LSU passed quarterback Deshaun Watson from Clemson as the favorite to take home the hardware. Prolific Pac-12 rusher Christian McCaffrey dropped off a tad, likely due to him being one of Stanford’s only offensive threats.

JT Barrett, Dalvin Cook, and Baker Mayfield are all sitting at 12/1, as their schedules will make it difficult to go through the regular season without suffering a couple of tough games. JT Barrett will have a tough time with the amount of players Ohio State put in the draft, and Baker Mayfield will be without possession receiver Sterling Shepard.

There are several new names on this list. Quarterback Josh Rosen of UCLA skyrocketed into the rankings, all the way to 16/1 from his position off the board. Trevor Knight, who transferred to Texas A&M after losing his job to Baker Mayfield also makes the list. Prolific dual-threat quarterback Patrick Mahomes of Texas Tech, Baker Mayfield’s original school, also made his way onto the big board.

We also have our typical “they play for Alabama so they’re automatically contenders” picks in Calvin Ridley, wide receiver, and Bo Scarbrough, running back. Jarrett Stidham of Baylor also makes the list, although Baylor is going through one of the most tumultuous offseasons in recent history.

The Heisman trophy race is going to be a tight one this year, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
