Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 30 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Jonathan Schoop, Orioles (4,600): Schoop has been on an incredible roll since mid-June, hitting safely in 11 games. Over that stretch, he’s reached double digits in fantasy points seven times, including 20-plus points in his last three games. He’s had limited success against Seattle Mariners righty Taijuan Walker (1-for-5, two RBIs), but he’s hitting .306 against righties this season. We’ll roll with the hot bat in this matchup.
Brett Lawrie, White Sox (4,400): It’s been a quiet debut season in Chicago for Lawrie, who always seems to promise more than he delivers on the field. He has been heating up of late, however, with hits in six of his last seven games. Thursday’s matchup against Minnesota Twins lefty Tommy Milone (0-2, 5.33 ERA) sets up well. Lawrie is 3-for-5 in his career against Milone.
High Value
Robinson Cano, Mariners (4,100): Cano isn’t exactly “cheap,” but at this price he’s a steal compared to his talent and production. Cano enters play Thursday on a modest six-game hitting streak, but it’s the matchup with Baltimore Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman (10-1, 3.52 ERA) that makes him so appealing. Cano is 14-for-34 (.412) with two home runs and eight RBIs in his career against Tillman.
Derek Dietrich, Marlins (3,700): Dietrich’s power upside is limited — he has just three home runs this season. But he’ll hit for average and get on base a decent amount, so he’s worth a look. Dietrich is hitting .325 against right-handers this season, a nice mark that bodes well for his matchup with Atlanta Braves righty Mike Foltynewicz.
