NBA Free Agency: Evan Turner to meet with Knicks
Evan Turner will be making a visit with the New York Knicks.
The New York Knicks have already had an interesting offseason.
They traded for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose and are possibly going to sign center Joakim Noah. They are going to have a new look in 2016-17 in hope of rebounding from a poor season.
Another player who they may be going after is Evan Turner, who is a free agent. The former Boston Celtics shooting guard is set to meet with the Knicks, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.com.
Turner is coming off a decent season with the Celtics, averaging 10.5 PPG, 4.4 APG and 4.9 RPG in a role off the bench. With Boston having drafted small forward Jaylen Brown with the No. 3 pick, it seemingly seemed the Ohio State alumnus expendable.
Turner could play shooting guard for the Knicks, who have an opening at the position. Arron Afflalo, the incumbent two position player, recently opted out of his contract to become a free agent. Signing the six-year pro may indicate that they expect to lose Afflalo.
The Knicks are set to be revamped, once again, for next season. They’ll be led by Carmelo Anthony, Rose, Kristaps Porzingis, possibly Noah, Evan Turner, and whoever else they target in free agency. They are going to have some cap room to make changes, so we’ll see what Phil Jackson has in store for the Big Apple squad.
