Charlotte Hornets: Steal Stephen Curry

Okay, this is not an option until Curry’s contract expires, but that will occur after the 2016-2017 season. In other words, this option is not that far away.

Stephen Curry has famous ties to the Charlotte area, including the fact that his father, Dell Curry, is essentially an employee of the team as a broadcast analyst. Depending on what transpires during the 2016-2017 season for Golden State, Curry could have some desire to “go home” and the Hornets would provide more theoretical appeal than just about any franchise.

This is, of course, a cheating way to send the Hornets past the Warriors on the virtual pecking order, but it is also the only method that makes sense. Charlotte is not really a free agent destination, and while the franchise does have some nice assets, the Hornets have swung and missed in the NBA Draft too often to become a legitimate contender as currently constructed.

Moving Stephen Curry from the Warriors to the Hornets would change the balance of power throughout the NBA, and that is especially true for the two teams with direct involvement. Lastly, can you imagine Stephen Curry playing for Michael Jordan? The memes create themselves.
