Mike Conley is easily the best point guard entering 2016 NBA free agency. He’ll make serious money, but should be weary about signing with these five teams.

Memphis Grizzlies starting point guard Mike Conley will enter 2016 NBA free agency as the best available point guard on the market. While the 2016 free agency point guard class is weak at best, that is by no means a slight against the Memphis Maestro.

Conley has been a top 10 point guard in the NBA for the last four or five years. He’s got a great handle, is a brilliant passer, and a magnificent floor general for a perennial playoff team in the Western Conference. However given the small media market team he plays for and sheer amount of amazing point guards also in the Western Conference, Conley often gets overlooked.

His Memphis teammates of Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, and Tony Allen with the help of native Memphian and diehard Grizzlies fan music superstar Justin Timberlake put together a solid pitch to keep their star point guard with the Grizzlies going forward. However, Memphis may have already peaked before Conley hits free agency this summer.

Though the market for point guards is small, Conley is about to get paid handsomely, whether that is with Memphis or another NBA team. If Conley were to leave the Grizzlies after nine seasons, here are five teams he’ll need to be cautious of signing with in 2016 NBA free agency.
