Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 1 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Jose Altuve, Astros (5,500): At this point, there doesn’t seem to be any pitcher or team capable of slowing down Altuve. The major’s leader in batting average (.357) has extended his hitting streak to 11 games, a stretch that features five double-digit fantasy performances. His numbers against Chicago White Sox righty Miguel Gonzalez (2-for-11) aren’t other-worldly, but that pales in comparison to his recent run of success.

Brian Dozier, Twins (4,900): Minnesota might have the worst record in the majors, but Dozier hasn’t let that stop him from putting on a show of late. The 29-year-old second baseman has extended his hitting streak to 12 games, a stretch that includes six home runs and seven games of double-digit fantasy points. He’s hitting .339 with a .714 slugging percentage against lefties this season, so he’s a great play Friday against Texas Rangers southpaw Martin Perez (7-4, 3.44 ERA).

High Value

Ben Zobrist, Cubs (3,600): After a recent five-game funk in which he tallied just one hit, Zobrist has turned things around — he has seven hits over his last four games, with three doubles and a home run. His ownership should be low on Friday, given the road matchup against New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom (3-4, 2.67 ERA), but the combination of the discounted price and Zobrist’s .329 road batting average makes him worth a look.

Kelly Johnson, Mets (2,900): On the other side of the field from Zobrist, Johnson stands out as a decent value play, especially for GPPs. The lefty-hitting Johnson has had considerable success against Chicago Cubs right-hander Jason Hammel (7-4, 2.58 ERA), going 9-for-30 with a pair of home runs in previous meetings.
