Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 1 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Carlos Correa, Astros (5,300): The 21-year-old phenom has gone through some expected growing pains this season, but his talent is simply undeniable. Correa has put on a show this week, going 5-for-9 with two doubles, one home run and six RBIs over his last two games. He’s hitting 80 points higher against righties than lefties, so his matchup Friday with Chicago White Sox veteran Miguel Gonzalez (1-3, 5.17 ERA) works in his favor.
Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (5,100): You know you’re a dominant player when a mild “cold” streak is still hitting safely in seven of your last eight games. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled by Bogaerts, expecting double-digit fantasy points each and every night. He is, however, an elite play Friday at home against Los Angeles Angels righty Jhoulys Chacin (3-6, 5.64 ERA).
High Value
Tim Anderson, White Sox (3,900): The Chicago rookie is on a great run right now, having hit safely in seven straight and 10 of his last 11 games overall. He has at least two hits in four straight games, with five consecutive games of double-digit fantasy output. He’s hitting .329 against righties, so there shouldn’t be concerns about his Friday matchup with Houston Astros starter Mike Fiers (5-3, 4.41 ERA).
Trevor Story, Rockies (3,200): Yes, Colorado will face the Dodgers in Los Angeles and not hitter-friendly Coors Field, but this is still a bargain for such a high-upside fantasy player. Story has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, and newly-acquired Dodgers starter Bud Norris (3-7, 4.22 ERA) isn’t exactly Clayton Kershaw.
