Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers are the NBA’s most popular franchise and there’s good reason for it. The only team that has come close to the level of accomplishment as L.A. is Boston, but everybody still seems to prefer the mystique of purple and gold to everywhere else. Being a Laker is an exclusive fraternity that some of the greatest players have gotten to experience. Yes, the years as of late have been down ones, but that’s only because of a transition from the previous era to a new one. Kobe Bryant has retired, and we all know how much Durant respected him. Now, Durant can be the next great Laker in a long list of amazing players to wear the purple and gold.

After the first year, Durant can recruit Russell Westbrook to town, and they can win championships with a young bright coach in Luke Walton. It’s time for the Lakers to go back to being the Lakers, and they do that with Durant being the first big time signing for them out of free agency since Shaq. Except unlike Shaq and Kobe, when Durant gets old he’s not going to have to go somewhere new, or play with a bunch of scrubs and young guys. By that point the youth that Los Angeles has been drafting the last few years will be reaching their prime, and they’ll be ready to help Durant go out of the league as a legend. Just another Hall of Famer in purple and gold. It’s really second nature at this point.
