Milwaukee Bucks
Guaranteed Salaries: $59,961,631
Draft Pick Cap Holds: $2,140,500
Maximum Cap Space: $28,401,909
The Bucks have the majority of their core intact going into the 2016-17 season, but they can still clear room for a mid-tier maximum free agent if theyād like. Hereās how they get to almost $28.5 million in space:
-Waive the non-guaranteed contracts of Damian Inglis and Johnny OāBryant, totaling about $1.96 million.
-Renounce their Bird rights on O.J. Mayo, Greivis Vasquez, and Miles Plumlee. Mayo and Vasquez account for $21.9 million in cap holds.
-Renounce their Early Bird rights on Jerryd Bayless.
-Renounce their non-Bird rights on Steve Novak.
Milwaukeeās cap space in flux and largely will depend on whether or not they can find a trade partner for Greg Monroe. Depending on what they get in a potential Monroe trade, the Bucks could open up as much as $45 million in space this summer, but, more importantly, they could clear Monroe off their books for future years.
The Bucks have the flexibility this summer to bring back as many of their incumbent free agents as they like. Theyāve tendered Plumlee a qualifying offer so that they can match any offer sheet he receives from another team, but that does add a $5.27 million cap hold and takes them out of financial contention for a mid-tier max-level free agents, unless they find a place to dump Monroe.
