Former Brooklyn Nets point guard Jarrett Jack, who was cut by the club on Thursday before free agency, finds the Jeremy Lin signing absolutely hysterical.
NBA veteran point guard Jarrett Jack was not the answer at starting point guard for the Brooklyn Nets. The journeyman/sixth man was cut by the Nets on Thursday before the 2016 NBA free agency period opened.
With a dire need at point guard and a ton of that NBA television money coming through, the Nets were poised to make a big splash in free agency. Nets general manager Sean Marks has a multi-year deal in place with former Charlotte Hornets backup Jeremy Lin. Free agent Jack found this absolutely hilarious.

While Jack may have liked the idea of being a starting point guard for the Nets after leaving the Golden State Warriors two years ago, he probably realizes that his best chances to win an NBA Championship are to be a key reserve and lead the team offensively coming off the bench.
Brooklyn is in the beginning stages of what seems to be a massive rebuilding project and that massive deal that Lin just landed seems to have made Jack giddy with joy. Jack may not get that type of money in his own free agency this summer, but could land with a team that is actually going to make the 2017 NBA Playoffs. Brooklyn is still one of the three worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
Jack is largely a second-tier NBA point guard available on the free agent market. He’ll still get paid well as will all free agents in the 2016 class. A few teams that might look to land Jack are the Atlanta Hawks, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Milwaukee Bucks, all of whom have better rosters to contend for a 2017 NBA Playoffs push.
