Here are five free agent targets for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have a bright future ahead of them with a young core and plenty of cap space. With the rising salary cap, the Lakers are in a good spot to try and throw money at top free agents to come and play with them.

However, at this point in their development, the Lakers might be better off with value signings and letting their young guys lead the team. We already know that they don’t have a meeting with Kevin Durant and that they’re out on some other big free agents.

The good news is that they don’t need those guys at this point anyways. Smart signings to go with their young talent will make this team a lot better and with plenty of free agents on the market, they have an opportunity to accelerate their development and the growth process.

It’s weird to think about a team like the Lakers going for value instead of the big name, but that’s the hand they have been dealt and it’s the smart thing to do even if they are a big market team.

If they believe in their young guys as much as they do, then it should be an interesting free agency period for them.
