Timofey Mozgov is about to get a ton of money from the Los Angeles Lakers, which could make him one of the NBA’s highest paid centers.

NBA free agency kicked off at 12:00 am ET on July 1, and the money is already flying around. Teams are talking record deals with role players and others who fans would not think would get the cash they are about to receive.

One of those players is former Cleveland Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Mozgov is set to receive about four years, $65 million.

Mozgov getting potentially $16.25 million per year is amazing. He is coming off a season where he played just 17.4 minutes per game, averaging 6.3 points and 4.4 rebounds. Players like Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love took most of the minutes away that Mozgov had received in 2014-15 from the Cavs during their championship year.

It should also be noted that Mozgov couldn’t make it onto the court for the majority of the NBA Playoffs. He didn’t play more than 13 minutes in each of the four series the Cavs were involved in, most of which were in garbage time. Mozgov’s three games where he played double-digit minutes came when the final margin of victory was 25 or more points.

This move might be seen as a desperate one from the Lakers, who have had a tough time luring in free agents. However, with Joakim Noah about to receive even more money, could it be possible that Timofey Mozgov’s deal is a “bargain?”
