NBA free agency: Trail Blazers offering Chandler Parsons max deal

Chandler Parsons has reportedly been offered a four-year max contract by the Portland Trail Blazers to start 2016 NBA free agency

Chandler Parsons undoubtedly is one of the most fascinating cases in 2016 NBA free agency considering the variance in how things could work out for the forward. Despite his divisiveness in regards to how people around the league feel about him, though, the Portland Trail Blazers aren’t afraid to go after him right away in free agency.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowksi of The Vertical, the Trail Blazers were the first team to score a meeting with Chandler Parsons and have offered the forward a four-year max deal:

Whenever Parsons is healthy, giving him that kind of money isn’t too far-fetched at all considering the value that the market for players of his ilk dictates. However, Parsons has spent much of the past two seasons with the Mavericks—a team that maxed him out not long ago—not being healthy and instead on the sidelines nursing worrisome knee injuries and other ailments.

However, Parsons was still able to show flashes just last season when he was healthy and on the floor in Dallas. He’s a player with great range and versatility on the offensive end of the floor and a guy that can hold his own defensively if he’s in the right system.

When you think about him joining a team like the Trail Blazers, it’s a great look for both. The Blazers are a team on the rise with a ton of talent to surround Parsons with so that he can play to his strengths. Moreover, they’re a team with no qualms about paying Parsons as they have to pay a premium to bring in upper-tier guys on the open market. This could really be a perfect match right out of the gate in free agency.
