Add the New Orleans Pelicans to the list of teams courting coveted point guard Rajon Rondo.

Rajon Rondo’s name is becoming a hot commodity after the Grizzlies locked up Mike Conley and the Knicks snagged Derrick Rose in free agency. Rondo is very arguably the best point guard available in free agency, so naturally he’ll be linked to every single team that’s willing to pay big money for a good player.

This time, the team is the Pelicans. Chris Mannix of The Vertical is reporting that the Pelicans are courting the triple double machine. Rajon Rondo will continue to be linked to every team looking for a point guard until he signs with someone.

The Pelicans have a very good young roster. They picked up Oklahoma sharpshooter Buddy Hield in the draft, and signed forward Solomon Hill in free agency. They’re looking up, but they still have a ways to go until they’re competitive in the NBA. They can build around Anthony Davis, but they’ll need to get him some help in the near future.

Rajon Rondo might be that help. Rondo is twelfth on the NBA All-Time list for triple doubles, and led the entire league in assists last year. Recent reports have linked him to the Nets and the Derrick Rose-less Bulls, so it seems that Rondo will have the pick of the litter. If he goes to New Orleans, he’ll have a young, talented roster to work with, and a buddying superstar in Anthony Davis.
