The Cleveland Indians 14 game winning streak has come to an end after the Indians lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 9-6.

Naturally, the Oakland Athletics, owners of the longest winning streak in the MLB in the Wild Card era, were waiting for the Indians to lose so that they could throw some shade at them.

They savagely trolled the Indians over Twitter.

Oakland rejoiced that the Indians did not best their 20 game winning streak (an American League best) that their 2002 team was able to put together. One of the most magical 20 game runs in baseball history, much like the Indians, Oakland’s 20 game winning streak was defined by magical walk-off hits. Perhaps none of those hits were more famous than Scott Hatteberg’s pinch hit home run against the Kansas City Royals to push the winning streak to 20 games.

The Indians have a lot to be happy about despite the ending of their winning streak. They have built an impressive cushion in the American League Central Division, as they lead the Kansas City Royals by 6.5 games as of July 2. Their pitching has been phenomenal, to say the least. While their lineup has been streaky at times, they have become very good at getting big hits when they need them and consistently making pitchers work to get them out. That’s a pretty good way to have success.
