Canadiens fan leaves angry message to ownership on P.K. Subban jersey (Photo)
A furious Montreal Canadiens fan left her P.K. Subban jersey at the statue of Jean Beliveau outside the Canadiens’ arena with a message written to ownership.
Just before free agency began, the Montreal Canadiens made an extremely controversial trade when they traded star defenseman P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenseman Shea Weber. Subban was an extremely popular player and person in Montreal so naturally a lot of people in Montreal were pissed. One fan was so mad that she left a message to ownership on her Subban jersey and left it at the state of Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau just outside of the Bell Centre.

Many fans burn jerseys or throw them in the trash to protest moves made by their favorite team. This is taking it one step further. Here’s a transcript of the powerful message that many Canadiens fans likely echo.
"“You can have this once-beloved jersey back. I have no more use for it. Once a fan, now so disappointed… the worst trade since Patrick Roy. Hoping P.K. Subban thrives in Nashville! He deserved better, and so do Habs fans. Stop making such huge mistakes!”"
Quite the statement to make. Subban was beloved in Montreal. He was more than just the Canadiens’ second best player (trailing only 2014-15 Hart Trophy winner Carey Price). Subban was also a beacon of hope. He was an athlete who loved the city of Montreal and constantly pushed to improve it. As the Canadiens’ most popular player, Subban was in a unique position of power. Hopefully Julie’s message will be heard.
