Identifying the top high salary and value first baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 2 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Wil Myers, Padres (5,500): It might be another lost year for San Diego, but it’s been a breakout season for Myers, who has already set new career highs in home runs (19) and RBIs (57). He’s twice in his last three games and has a staggering 74 DraftKings points over that three-game span. He draws a home matchup against New York Yankees righty Ivan Nova (5-5, 5.32 ERA) on Saturday. Roll with Myers while he’s hot.
Justin Bour, Marlins (4,700): You know the book on Bour by now — he’s a great play against right-handers (.274, 15 HRs), and not so much against lefties (.227, zero HRs). He’s homered four times in his last seven games, which is a nice power surge. Bour and the Marlins will face right-hander Lucas Harrell, who will be making his first MLB appearance since 2014, on Saturday.
High Value
Victor Martinez, Tigers (3,800): Martinez must have missed the memo that said injuries and age were going to end his productivity. The 37-year-old switch-hitter hit a pair of home runs Friday night for, amazingly, his third multi-home run game in his last 15 games. He probably won’t hit two homers again on Saturday, but he should still produce value against Tampa Bay Rays lefty Blake Snell (1-2, 3.54 ERA).
Freddie Freeman, Braves (3,100): Be warned: This is a GPP-only play (most batters facing Jose Fernandez usually are). But if you’re going to roll the dice on a cheap punt play, Freeman isn’t a bad choice. He’s 5-for-17 with a double and home run in his career against Fernandez (10-3, 2.28 ERA).
