Identifying the top high salary and value pitcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 2 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Jose Fernandez, Marlins (13,800): No doubt about this one. Fernandez has topped 25 DK points in eight of his last nine starts, including six 30-plus-point outings. That stretch also includes five games with double-digit strikeouts. Fernandez is a no-brainer choice against the last-place Atlanta Braves.

Jake Arrieta, Cubs (13,600): This came down to either Arrieta or Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale. We’re leaning Arrieta, who should be motivated after subpar last start against the Cincinnati Reds. Arrieta seems due for a dominant outing, and with the New York Mets coming off a 10-run, feel-good win Friday night, it could be in store on Saturday.

High Value

Joe Ross, Nationals (8,800): Ross has been steady but unspectacular for Washington over his last three starts. He’s pitched at least six innings in each, but failed to eclipse the 20-point mark on DraftKings. He has an ideal matchup to break that streak on Saturday, when he faces the last-place Reds at Nationals Park. There’s solid upside here for a discounted price.

Adam Wainwright, Cardinals (7,500): Wainwright (6-5, 5.04 ERA) has not resembled his former All-Star self this season, but a home matchup against the struggling Milwaukee Brewers could help him right the ship. The Brewers lead the majors in strikeouts (751), and while Wainwright has never been a major strikeout pitcher, that alone boosts his upside on Saturday. He’s a solid GPP option to pair with either Fernandez or Arrieta.
