Kelly Olynyk is pulling out all the stops in the Boston Celtics’ pursuit of free agent/NBA superstar/MVP/basketball extraterrestrial Kevin Durant.

That includes a purple(ish) tie dye shirt:

I know what you’re thinking: Isn’t that Tom Brady chit-chatting with Celtics president Danny Ainge? And you’re right. But that doesn’t matter.

Olynyk’s outfit is what could ultimately sway Durant, not a local three-time Super Bowl MVP. Kelly’s getup, if nothing else, assures KD that the transition from Boston to Oklahoma City won’t be all that stark. The Thunder have a key contributor in Russell Westbrook who likes to sport awesomely quirky clothes, and so do the Celtics. Boston and Oklahoma City are practically the same team when you think about it.

Only, unlike Westbrook, Olynyk has the “Anybody seen my skateboard” hairdo going for him. That’ll be a nice change of pace for Durant. He gets Russ and the long-haired Steven Adams all rolled into one teammate. The Golden State Warriors cannot offer him such a sidekick. Nor can the San Antonio Spurs.

Basically, we’re saying the Celtics are all in on their Durant pursuit. That’s the only reason Olynyk would break out his Sunday best on a Saturday.

And if purple(ish) t-shirts, plus untamed haircuts, aren’t enough to illustrate Boston’s commitment to winning an NBA title, nothing is.
