Major League Lacrosse player carted off field after hit (Video)

Major League Lacrosse midfielder Matt Mackrides of the Atlanta Blaze had to be carted off the field after being hit by a Charlotte Hounds defenseman.
Atlanta has taken to lacrosse in the last 15 years. High school programs are spreading like wildfire in the metro area and the southern metropolis now has two professional lacrosse teams in the span of one year: the Georgia Swarm of the National Lacrosse League (box lacrosse) and the Atlanta Blaze of Major League Lacrosse.
In the fourth quarter of the Blaze’s home game against the Charlotte Hounds up 13-12, Atlanta midfielder Matt Mackrides had to be carted off the field on a stretcher after a head-on collision with a Charlotte defenseman.
Mackrides has suffered a concussion, but will be fine according to the Blaze’s team doctor. However, it seems unlikely that he will be able to partake in July 9th’s All-Star Game festitivities, as Mackrides may not clear concussion protocol within the week.
Mackrides was medically cleared to fly back home to his native Philadelphia after suffering the immobilizing hit on Friday night in Atlanta. Atlanta is currently 3-6 through nine games as an expansion MLL franchise.
