Fans were extremely excited to find out that a brand new season of Samurai Jack was in the works and all the details that have been revealed show a lot of promise.
Samurai Jack first premiered on August 10, 2001, exclusively on Cartoon Network, and was praised by many for its interesting art style and great action scenes. The series was created by Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls), and back in December of 2015, he announced that an all new season of Samurai Jack was in the works.
The good news is that it will continue where the original series left off. The even better news is the much darker tone that the series will take.
With the show switching over to Adult Swim, viewers can expect a grittier, more intense series.
“In the original series, he was very a heroic person on a very rigid quest,” Tartakovsky said. “Now we pick up with him, and it’s many years after the fact, and he’s a little bit lost. So it’s a story of redemption and him trying to find who he is again.”
When it comes to the actions scenes and the way Samurai Jack will be handled, fans of the show will see various familiar things that will remind them why they loved the first four seasons so much, but there’s also an experience in this fifth season that will introduce something new entirely when it comes to the characters and the story it will tell. It seems like the perfect combination of old and new, which sounds like a recipe for success.
We can’t wait to see the all new season Samurai Jack. A confirmed release date is still unknown, but they’re targeting a late 2016 or early 2017 release date for the premiere.
