NBA Free Agency Rumors: Kevin Durant still seriously considering Celtics
According to a league source, Kevin Durant is still seriously considering signing with the Boston Celtics Monday when he announces his decision.
Kevin Durant will be making perhaps the most anticipated free agent decision ever when he announces where he will sign on July 4. His decision, which will be posted on The Players’ Tribune, should change the landscape of the NBA offseason.
While some reports have the Boston Celtics out of the running, a league source suggests that Durant is still seriously considering signing with the Celtics. He would be joining a team that just added Al Horford.
From CSN New England:
"A league source with intimate knowledge of Boston’s thinking in regards to Durant as well as another league source, both told CSNNE.com that Boston’s pitch to Durant this weekend was good enough to where he’s “seriously considering” the Celtics right now as opposed to down the road."
The Celtics had an interesting contingency plan when it came to recruiting Durant. They allegedly had Tom Brady as a part of their recruitment group that met with Durant. Boston’s star athletes David Ortiz and Julian Edelman both were involved over social media as well. It’s likely that the signing of Horford had a part in it as well.
Durant’s decision is tough. The Celtics, Spurs, Thunder, and Warriors each have extremely strong cases. Each of them brings a unique situation to the table that Durant could find appealing. Could Durant join Brady and Oriz in Boston?
