DraftKings Late MLB Picks For July 4

There are only four late games on Independence Day, which makes this the smaller tournament of the day. There are a few good options. Let’s find out what the past stats say!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Rookie phenom Julio Urias will make his first start against the Orioles, but the bloated ERA (4.09) and WHIP (1.45) make him hard to use against this offense, even on a light night and with his great strikeout potential.

Best Bet:

Archie Bradley ($8,500): Sure, Bradley has a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP, but he dominated the Padres back on May 29th. He gave up three runs on only four hits while striking out nine in 7.1 innings pitched. That netted him 29.5 DraftKings points. If he can do that again, he will likely be the high scorer of the night.

Honorable Mention:

Aaron Sanchez ($9,900): With this small of a slate, you have to go on small sample sizes. How small? The current Royals are 0-7 with two strikeouts against Sanchez. Well, the numbers beat the ones you know!

Dark Horse:

Daniel Norris ($5,900): Norris has never started against Cleveland, but he did face them eight times in relief. He allowed no runs and two hits in two innings, but also didn’t strike anyone out. However, he has struck out 13 in his two starts so far this year, but has yet to make it past the fifth inning.

Yes, Danny Salazar is 10-3 with a 2.22 ERA this year, but the Tigers have hammered him. It’s hard to ignore these stats. Miguel Cabrera ($3,900) is 9-29(.310) with two walks, a double, two homers, and five RBI. Ian Kinsler ($4,000) is 7-24(.292) with four walks, a homer, and five RBI. Nick Castellanos ($3,300) is only 5-24(.208), but he has two doubles and a solo homer. Victor Martinez ($3,700) is 7-28 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI. Even Andrew Romine ($2,200) has gotten in on the act. He is 5-10 with a walk, a double and a solo homer off of Salazar. For the money you have to pay, you can likely do better than Salazar tonight, but you may want to stack against him!

Edwin Encarnacion ($5,300) is 3-9 with three walks, a homer, and two RBI off of Edinson Volquez. Troy Tulowitzki ($4,100) is only 3-14, but he has four RBI off of Volquez.

Justin Turner ($3,800) is 6-15 with a double and two RBI against Yovani Gallardo. Will Venable ($2,500) has yet to make an impact with the Dodgers, but he is 8-22(.364) lifetime against Gallardo with five walks, two doubles, a triple, a homer, and four RBI off of him. Adrian Gonzalez ($3,400) is only 5-12(.238) off Gallardo, but he has a walk, a triple, a homer, and four RBI.

Jake Lamb‘s ($5,500) only at bat against Luis Perdomo ended with a solo home run.
