I will continue to track winning Tournament lineups and compare trends over 5 day periods to help us understand what it takes to remain profitable. I HIGHLY recommend each of you do this each morning to look back on the previous night and understand how the winning lineups are constructed in the games you participate in.

The view below tracks GPP entries over various time periods, breaking out key metrics to understand the trends and compositions of GPP winning rosters:

We return to a “normal” slate on Tuesday with 14 games on the main slate to choose from including Madison Bumgarner at home against the Rockies. As the highest priced pitcher at $11,400 the question will be whether or not he is worth the price. If I told you that you could select a pitcher who in 5 of his last 10 games has scored between 30 and 33 points, would you be willing pay over $11k for that hurler? Take the name out of it and let someone else pay up for MadBum while we play the fade game.

Carlos Carrasco ($10,200) at home versus Detroit: Over the last month, Carrasco is far and away the top performer of any pitcher on the slate as he has averaged 45.8 points per start which is 7.6 points higher than the next closest competitor.

Carrasco may have a tough match up on paper with the Tigers but keep in mind only two starts ago, Carrasco racked up a 60 point FanDuel game against Detroit when he went 9 innings for the win while striking out 7 batters.

Carrasco backed up that start with a 14k gem against the dangerous Blue Jays lineup in Toronto and is proving he is able to handle even the most explosive lineups.

While others may opt to pay up for Bumgarner or David Price, Carrasco has been the top performer of any of the top end hurlers and with back to back games over 60 points, he makes for an easy choice when building your roster.

Pitching Summary: Typically I look to identify two pitchers, but the more I look at this slate the more this feels like a day where I will lock in Carrasco and move on. Carrasco has the proven ability to match either Bumgarner or Price and his recent form has been phenomenal and I am happy to ride the hot hand here.

With the expectation we will look to pay up at starting pitcher, finding value and reasonably priced hitters will be the key to driving our FanDuel MLB roster construction.

Arizona at home versus LHP Christian Friedrich: One of the most appealing hitting environments to attack on Tuesday night is in Chase Field and any time a left-handed starter is the opposition, it puts Paul Goldschmidt ($4,100) in consideration as one of the top plays of the day. Goldy is averaging 13 points per game over the last 2 weeks and considering he has done that with only 1 home run, shows you he is capable of racking up points even without the long ball.

Welington Castillo ($2,700) makes for a great addition to Goldy in forming an Arizona mini-stack and considering Friedrich has given up at least 1 home run in each of his last 3 starts, this is a nice spot for us to go long ball fishing!

Blue Jays against RHP Chris YoungA fly ball pitcher in Toronto you say? Anytime the Blue Jays are at home they make for an intriguing stack possibility and with a fly ball pitcher in Chris Young going for the Royals who has given up a .352 opposing BA with 15 HR’s in only 23 IP, we are going to want some exposure here.

Devon Travis ($2,700) makes for a great cost-effective play batting at the top of the Toronto lineup but Michael Saunders ($3,500) may be the key play here batting in the middle of the order and with the platoon advantage on his side!
