Taking a look at who won the 2015 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest
Joey Chestnut went into the 2015 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest having an absolute stranglehold on his competition. He had won the event eight years running and there didn’t seem to be anyone that was going to be able to match his prowess in the world of competitive eating.
After all, this was a man that held the world record in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest after eating an absurd 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes several years ago and a man that was just a professional in his field in a way that many people just aren’t. Who was going to top him when he was so clearly the king of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Kings are only crowned to be dethroned, though, and that’s exactly what happened with Joey Chestnut in the 2015 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. The legend of the event was taken down by a young up-and-comer.
That young up-and-comer and the winner of the 2015 Nathan’s Hot Dog Contest was then 23-year-old Matt Stonie. Stonie has since gone on to become the best and top-ranked all-around competitive eater in the world and it was really brought to the forefront after he topped Chestnut in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest last year.
In 2016, though, Chestnut and Stonie will once again be duking it out at Coney Island, NY for the crown. Will the old king come back for another reign, or is it Stonie’s world now?
