Looking at if champion Matt Stonie will be competing at the 2016 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest
Looking back over the past decade and even a bit further than that in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, there are really two names that come to mind in regards to reigning supreme atop the sport. Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut dominated for over a decade in the contest, but there now may be a new king ready to stay atop the throne for close to another decade: Matt Stonie.
The 24-year-old Matt Stonie has truly taken the world of competitive eating by storm since he’s come onto the scene over the past two years. The man nicknamed “Megatoad” has become the top-ranked eater in the world and he proved that in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest just last year as he came in and ended Chestnut’s eight-year winning streak by eating 62 hot dogs.
Matt Stonie is now the crowned champion of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, but the world of competitive eating is odd in the way that people qualify and so on. With that in mind, those who care about competitive eating loosely and are curious about it may be wondering if Matt Stonie is going to compete at the 2016 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest to defend his title.
That is indeed what Matt Stonie will be doing on the 4th of July as he’ll compete and try to stay the king of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
