Results from the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 2016

There’s no 4th of July tradition that encompasses all of the things that the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest does. It’s got a long history, it captures the hearts and minds of people, and it truly is one of the most grueling events of each year. However, the 2016 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is going to have even more drama than normal.

Last year, Matt Stonie unseated Joey Chestnut as the champion at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest after the latter had owned the contest, the world record, and won the event eight years in a row. Now Chestnut will be trying to take down the biggest young name in the sport in the man they call “Megatoad,” Stonie.

Not only that, but the 2016 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is also a big deal as they are calling this the 100th contest in history. While that might not actually be true, it is still a time honored and tested event for the 4th of July. So that was all going on leading up to the 2016 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Despite what happened last year, Joey Chestnut wasn’t playing around. “Jaws” became the first man to ever eat 70 dogs at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and absolutely left Stonie in the dust to reclaim his title and the mustard belt in Coney Island.

Stonie finished 17 dogs behind, eating 53.
