Someone get Denard Robinson some coffee or something so he won’t drive into any more ponds.
Early July 3rd, Denard Robinson’s car had to be pulled out of a pond. At approximately 4:20 AM, Robinson fell asleep at the wheel and ran his Chevy Impala into a retention pond in Jacksonville. Neither Robinson or his female passenger were injured.
Denard Robinson entered the draft as arguably the most dynamic quarterback to ever play for the Michigan Wolverines. Nicknamed “Shoelaces” due to his strict aversion to protecting his arches by tying his shoes, Robinson ran circles around most of the Big Ten for four years before being taken in the fifth round by the Jaguars in 2013.
Robinson was forced to convert to running back, a move that many had seen coming from a long way off. He never truly progressed as a quarterback at Michigan, and was making the transition to a running back/slot receiver before the permanent running back transition in the NFL.
Robinson has been utilized as an jack of all trades by the Jaguars despite being technically considered a running back. He’s attempted passes, carried the ball, caught the ball and returned punts and kickoffs so far for the Jaguars.
I’m glad Robinson is okay. By all accounts, he’s simply a good human, and he’s definitely a team player. I don’t know of many professional or collegiate athletes that would give up the position they worked so hard for in order for the team to get better.
