NBA Free Agency Rumors: Gerald Henderson signs two-year deal with 76ers
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, free agent Gerald Henderson has agreed to a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers worth $18 million.
The Philadelphia 76ers have added some depth to their roster. According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they have agreed in principle to a two-year deal worth $18 million with free agent guard Gerald Henderson.
Henderson should be a solid addition to the 76ers squad. He is a legitimate shooting guard who gives them a veteran presence. Henderson is coming off a very solid season with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he averaged 8.7 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game and 1.0 assists per game while playing under 20 minutes a night.
He proved that he can be a decent starter during his tenure with the Charlotte Bobcats and Charlotte Hornets. The 76ers desperately need guard depth and Henderson gives them a proven, though unspectacular, option. It’s likely the 76ers will be able to flip him for even more assets once the time comes, especially since Henderson proved his value off the bench with the Blazers.
The 76ers still need to build up their roster, but they are at least putting together a roster that is better than the ones they have fielded in recent seasons. Henderson is a legitimate NBA player. Considering the horrendous lineups that the 76ers have trotted out in the past, Henderson is an upgrade. Though that might be more incriminating of the 76ers than anything else.
