Seattle could turn to a familiar face to give Russell Wilson quarterback depth.

The Seattle Seahawks have backup problems. Tavaris Jackson was thought to be an option, but he faces off the field issues stemming from an alleged assault with a deadly weapon. Former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin is another candidate, but he’s a rookie, and he has some legal issues as well, coming from a confrontation with a police officer. Connor Shaw has been floated around as a possibility, but there isn’t any guarantee that he’ll still be on the market for very long.

ESPN analyst Phil Savage thinks Michael Vick ought to be on the list of quarterbacks considering the Seahawks. He would fit the bill in terms of mobility, and he still has some of his legendary arm strength left. Given the current Seahawks’ legal struggles, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another name enter the mix very soon.

Michael Vick spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers but only played in give games. He’s 36 years old, so he’s got some mileage on his body, but he isn’t a normal NFL 36 due to his arrest for dog fighting in 2007. Vick has spent the years since 2009 in various backup and starting roles with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Vick seems like a no-brainer for this spot due to his fit with the Seahawk’s offense. He’s still one of the more mobile quarterbacks in the NFL, and would be a serviceable backup for incumbent Russell Wilson.
